Thermophilic Compost is the most common compost, also called hot compost.

Rule to make it:

• Minimum 1 cubic meter pile
• 70% carbon material (brown stuff: dry leaves, cardboard, straw/hay, pine needles, newspaper…
• 30% nitrogen material (green stuff: fruit and vegetable scraps, grass clippings
• Maintain moist (the pile should stay humid and should be covered with a tarp)
• Oxygen, the pile should be turned twice or 3 times a week to maintain the oxygen level. This is an aerobic process, which means oxygen thriving bacterias are responsible for the breaking down of organic matter and hence the pile needs high oxygen levels.

We could have 3 piles, 1 that is with the fresh stuff (pile being built) the second is completed, should be monitored (humidity and oxygen levels should be maintained by turning the pile and watering the pile.) and a 3rd completed one which ready to use compost.

We need twice as much Carbon stuff than nitrogen (fresh food scraps) so we will need a big stack of straw or cardboard or dry leaves so we can add twice as much carbon stuff every time we throw a bucket of food scraps in the pile.
