Gus TDF, [21/04/2023 14:55] sure Charlie!! I'll wait in any case for @samueldelesque 's ok before giving my commitment, but ofc I'm looking forward to do this with you

just to be super clear with my intentions here, I've felt some frictions in the TDF's power dynamics... I'm ok with the centralization/startup vibe's we have today, but I'm not ok in not having any true confirmation/commitment to decentralize the power in the mid-long term future... I really love, appreciate and thanks all the effort and capital the founders have put into this! For real! 🫶

believe me I'm super aware about how feary decentralization can be, I know very well how human and natural it's for people (specially men) to give the power away and/or to allow their babies to grow for themself rather than keeping control and command and to assure things will do as originally dreamed, preventing other people to intoxicate our babies with things we are not certain about...

but it's my personal certainty (and therefore my need to continue working at this project/dream), that dreams like TDF (where there's so much dependence of the community engagement) cannot thrive if we treat decentralization only as an advertisement and making it appealing for people without having a deep and honest commitment towards it

Gus TDF, [21/04/2023 14:59] we need new ways of thinking about how humans interact with each other and with their environment. We need new stories to tell, new visions for a better future, and new ways of expressing our values in code.

Sam Delesque, [21/04/2023 18:42] Thanks for bringing this up, Gus. I agree that true commitment to decentralization is important for the long-term success of TDF. We need to make sure that we are not just treating it as a marketing buzzword, but actually working towards it in a sincere and transparent way. This is why I have been asking you to put down verifiable, clear requests that can be translated to a technical roadmap rather than just stating what seems like a claim that I am not willing to let go of power.

I do strongly recognize the power dynamics you mention - and I would say even practicing, by for example yet again bringing together all the core team to a thread for you to express your views. I wish we could have a better way of working together, and the claims you made to me in person the other day don't seem to line up with the claims you make to me here. You mentionned last time your concern was around not being able to sell tokens if our smart contract isn't DAO controlled, and that that was the cause of your concern for wanting to decentralize. Is this still the case or are you making a separate claim here?

As for requesting a grant from ETH foundation to fund a governance protocol proposal research orchestrated by Charlie on behalf of the TDF core team, and with the possiblity to bring on advisors etc in order to create a comprehensive governance proposal to submit to our DAO, that I am all for.

Gus TDF, [21/04/2023 19:18] one thing is the go-to-market strategy claims that I made last week related to the trust we generate in the market.... that I've let go after talking to Charlie and having your feedback from that very same conversation...

but after that conversation I've actually felt (this is on me) sad, as I felt there was not commitment to decentralization, and that is the input for the statement I'm making above. I'm inlove with you guys and with the project, but first I love myself and the loyalty to my beliefs... So I've felt the need to expose this feeling I had, and request such a commitment to evaluate if it's fair to myself to continue here. So I thank your commitment to decentralization and appreciate your openess to welcome the EF fellowship guidance, whatever it is, if in the form of a grant, research, mentorship or development.. so all good for me now! 🫶

Gus TDF, [21/04/2023 19:31] I'm a sensible guy, Sam! and I'm sharing my vulnerabilities here, if I brought the team here was to assure feeling safe in exposing the feeling I'm having on the project....

yup, this is also a power dynamic, I reckon! But I feel it's part of my role here! I apologize if this was unconfortable or something 🙏🙏

Sam Delesque, [21/04/2023 19:32] Great thank you. Let's continue pushing the barriers of what decentralized land ownership means. We managed to do a bonded private sale and have built tech to enable decentralized access rights - already quite some features for a micro non funded land DAO. Once we get vitalicked (in City DAO's words) and have an actual funded DAO it will be a different conversation on priorities.
