Rituals provide a nameable container for managing transformation and making meaning. - Ritual Design

We're using rituals as tools in order to nurture our members, cultivate a feeling of belonging, and build a culture aligned with the long-term vision of TDF - regenerative living as a common planetary goal.

Our rituals can be held in person at TDF or online. During the Summer Stewardsheep 2022 we decided to focus on the rituals on the ground.

Rituals are constantly evolving, based on the needs of the community and hosting energy of the people on the ground.

This is an expanding guide designed to get you started as quickly as possible. YOU HAVE DIVINE PERMISSION TO ITERATE!

Note on rhythms:

Rhythms provide dependability and consistency, which is necessary for building communal habits. Use skipper board and communicate clear rhythms to people on the ground!

Rituals on the ground

Ritual Purpose Rhythm Info
Joyboard Visual check-in, vibes alignment Daily Mark on the board how are you feeling. You can add new spirals to the board.
Distributed Needs Meeting Practice for voicing needs, meeting the needs Daily Express what do you need and write it on the board. Next day the meeting starts with crossing off the needs that were met.
Stand up Task distribution and coordination Daily Distribution of tasks - looks different in every stewardsheep. Needs a steward to hold the space and bring the energy.

Note: this is a critical moment of the day - if hosted well everyone leaves excited to do the work, if the vibe is confusing or discouraging it will impact the productivity | | Skipper | Rota for cooking and clean ups | Weekly / On arrival / As needed | There are different ways to do this but the key is to make sure that shifts are covered. | | Breathwork | Morning grounding | 2/week | facilitated IRL or via recording

Note: Rim offered to keep facilitating breathwork regularly online | | Tabata | Work out | 2/week | High intensity workout session in 15 minutes - little resistance to start

Note: Rim offered to keep facilitating breathwork regularly online | | Communal Dish Cleaning | Turning chore into play | Every meal | Play upbeat music and invite a couple of people for the cleanup party. Note: it’s super useful to show the architecture plan and Land map in Asbestos for reference. | | Roadmap | visual plan + collaborative artpiece | Daily-ish | One square is one day of the stewardsheep - use it for planning, reflecting back, and engaging people on the ground in co-creation. | | Transparency Circle | deep sharing, rising tensions to the surface, holding space for each other | Weekly | sharing circle timed to 3 minutes per person | | Full Moon / New Moon | TBC | self explanatory | we don’t have a specific ritual developed yet. |
